Her arrival in Paris, France in 1947 after studying philosophy and arts, Genevieve pursued her artistic training with masters such as André Lhote and Ossip Zadkine.
With a moving dynamism and creative strength, she breaks through the conventional thres- holds width daring. This strength of muscle in the mind, this audacity, thsi "Why not?" are very revealing and give us a glimpse of resulting thoughts brought about by the conjugation of the intellectual currents of the Old and the New World.
Painter-Sculptor, as much as sculptor-painter, Genevieve the artist can be called, without excess of expression, "great".
The magic thought lives in all her work, which has seen the day in our epoch. The symbol that appears in these multicolored wrestlers, where the lines mix with the form, where the form becomes a colored page, projects us into a universe of new forces and contained violence.
There is still a lot to say about these fifty years of creativity. Let us be content to quote Ossip Zadkine at the private viewing of Genevieve's first exhibition in 1957, "An original artist, such as one meets only once or twice in a generation".
Serge Delaunay.
